The Iowa women’s golf team finished up the Mountain View Tournament in Tucson, Arizona, on March 21.
The first day was rough for the Hawkeyes — they finished up with a team score of 592 (16-over).
“It was a tough day as a team for us,” head coach Megan Menzel said in a release. “We felt like we let some shots get away, and the birdies were just not coming very easily."
The second day brought better play with an outstanding performance from senior Shelby Phillips.
Phillips’ score of 68 (4-under) ties Iowa’s second-lowest score of all time. The senior shares the record with Kristi Cardwell, Tyrette Metzendorf, and Jessie Sindlinger.
Phillips’s post of 68 propelled her to a tie for 29thth place overall on the second day after posting a 75 and 73 in the first day of play.
Iowa finished 12th overall with a team score of 886 (22-over) finishing just behind Cal State-Fullerton by three strokes.
Iowa will next compete at the Lady Buckeye Invitational from April 18-19.
