Mariannette Miller-Meeks, an ophthalmologist and former director of the Iowa Department of Public Health, on Monday announced she would run for Congress.
She will run as a Republican in Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District for the third time against Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa.
Miller-Meeks will begin touring in various locations across the district on Wednesday and Thursday. She hopes to focus on Iowans’ concerns about challenges facing the nation such as rising health-care costs and government accountability.
