A Cedar Rapids woman has been accused of forging a $2,500 check and depositing it in her bank account.

Rondesha Roundtree, 26, was charged Aug. 20, 2010, with second-degree theft.

A check for $2,500 made payable to Roundtree was reportedly deposited via an ATM on Aug. 20, 2010, into Roundtree’s account at Veridian Credit Union.

The check was endorsed with the Roundtree’s name and the signature was similar to the one on Roundtree’s driver’s license, according to authorities.

The victim’s checkbook was stolen, and two checks were allegedly written without the victim’s authorization. The victim had no association with Roundtree and did not know her or give her the check.

Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
