An Iowa woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing a miniature poodle from Petland.
Diana Chance, 46, was charged Feb. 28 with second-degree theft.
On Feb. 10, a miniature poodle that is valued at $1,799.99 was taken from the Iowa City Petland.
A surveillance video was released on the news, and the police received feedback on the identity of the thief. Investigators responded to Chance’s address and spoke to her. Chance consented to a chip scan of the miniature poodle, which resulted to a match of the miniature poodle taken from Petland.
According to the complaint, another tip to police officials claimed that Chance also had a stolen dachshund. Police officials obtained a warrant and during the execution of the warrant, they found a dachshund at Chance’s residence. Iowa City Animal Control scanned the dachshund, and the chip number matched that of a dachshund that went missing from Petland in September of 2012. The dachshund is valued at $1,499.99.
Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
