A former Hawkeye football player has been accused of driving while intoxicated.
According to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office complaint, 23-year-old Collin Sleeper was stopped for driving approximately 20 mph over the speed limit.
When police officials made contact with Sleeper, he reportedly had bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and smelled of ingested alcohol.
Sleeper admitted to drinking prior to driving, the complaint said.
Sleeper was a two-time letter winner as a defensive back for the Iowa football squad in 2011 and 2012.
First-offense OWI is a serious misdemeanor.
