The Iowa City City Council has approved a resolution to improve the Burlington/Clinton intersection.
The resolution, approved by a 7-0 vote, authorizes Shive-Hattery Inc to provide design engineering services related to the construction of the Burlington/Clinton Intersection Improvements Project.The project will include the addition of turn lanes on Clinton Street, signal improvements at the intersection, and the replacement of a water main along Clinton Street. The project will widen the north and south leg of Clinton Street near the intersection with Burlington Street.
The intersection ranks as the second-highest collision location in Iowa City, according to city staff.
The project is to be completed during the latter period of the new University of Iowa music building to be constructed on the southwest corner of the intersection.
