The Iowa City City Council approved plans, specifications, and estimated costs Tuesday for the U.S. Highway 6 and Sycamore Street intersection-improvement project.
According to city documents, the project entails widening the pavement, reconstructing the median, overlaying asphalt through the intersection, installing an 8-foot-wide sidewalk, and installing a new traffic-signal system.
The estimated cost of the project is roughly $1.8 million.
Councilors approved the plans on a 7-0 vote.
