The Daily Iowan placed in the top 10 in two categories at the National College Media Convention over the weekend.

The DI‘s Sept. 11 anniversary issue from earlier this year was named the seventh-best special edition among newspapers at four-year colleges. The Daily Illini at the University of Illinois won that category, and the Iowa State Daily at Iowa State University won second.

The DI also won seventh place in the four-year daily broadsheet best-of-show competition. The Daily Kent Stater from Kent State University won that category, and the Daily Illini took second.

Dozens of schools from across the country attended the conference in Orlando, Fla., over the weekend. The event was co-hosted by the Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Advisers.
