The Iowa City School Board passed a motion to change the meeting days at its regular meeting Tuesday. The meetings will be held on the first and third Tuesday of the month.
Superintendent Steve Murley said the move was needed because the clash between the School Board meetings and various area City Council — North Liberty and Coralville — meetings that are scheduled for the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.
This change will go into effect Dec. 6, when the School Board will meet on the first Tuesday of the month.
In addition to that change, the board also decided to add a two-hour work session at the beginning of the meetings; it conducted its first work session Tuesday. Murley said the board members were inspired by pre-meeting work sessions conducted by the Iowa City City Council.
