A Coralville woman was charged May 9 with credit-card fraud after a retirement-home resident reported fraudulent activity on his card.
Valerie Hobson, 30, allegedly wrote down the credit-card numbers while employed at the retirement home, later using them to call Aaron’s Sales and Lease Ownership to make a payment on her account.
According to a complaint by Iowa City police, Hobson identified herself on the phone and used the stolen card information to make the payment of $149.54.
Credit-card fraud is an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by up to two years in prison and a fine of $6,250.
