Two members of the University of Iowa community were appointed to the Governor’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Advisory Council. University of Iowa President Sally Mason and clinical urology Professor Victoria Sharp were among the 40-member council announced Tuesday by Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds.
The council consists of Iowa professionals in education, business, and civic departments. Mason and Sharp will contribute to educating Iowa’s youth and improving Iowa’s future.
The main goal of the council is to advise the Governor’s Office on ways to improve education and innovation, as well as the economic development of Iowa. Through the efforts, the members will seek to better educate students at a younger age.
