The trial of a former University of Iowa student charged with third-degre sexual abuse will be pushed back, following a motion to compel hearing Thursday.
Evan Pfeifer, 19, Lake Barrington, Ill., was charged April 4 with the Class C felony.
Assistant Johnson County Attorney Anne Lahey estimated the trial could be pushed back to January or February.
Pfeifer was arrested after allegedly having non-consensual sex with a woman on the Pentacrest Oct. 3, 2010.
One witness reported the sexual assault to police the same evening, and the woman reported the sexual assault on Nov. 1, 2010.
Pfeifer was indefinitely suspended from the university for violating the UI’s Misconduct Policy without the possibility of reinstatement until fall 2016 with approval of the dean of students.
Pfeifer has also been banned from campus and UI housing, and he has a no-contact order relating to the alleged victim.
