During the University of Iowa’s Faculty Council meeting Tuesday, officials discussed revisions to the UI Anti-Retaliation Policy, following the ruling in a recent Supreme Court case.
The main changes were made to address a broader spectrum of the student and faculty population, defining what retaliation entails and what it can and cannot include.
The changes define what retaliation means as “any materially adverse action or credible threat of a material adverse action” that “causes or threatens to cause significant injury or harm to a reporter, complainant, or other covered person such that it would likely dissuade a reasonable member of the faculty staff or student body from making or supporting a good-faith report.”
The changes above were proposed but are not final until passed by the Faculty Senate.
