At a press conference Wednesday, Sue Dvorsky, the chairwoman of the Iowa Democratic Party, and Sen. Jeff Danielson, D-Cedar Falls, called on Republican presidential-nomination candidates to disclose the names of their campaigns’ major fundraisers, according to a press release from the Iowa Democratic Party.

The two contended that a public knowledge of bundlers — as the major fundraisers are known — is in the interest of Iowans.

"If the Republican candidates for president aren’t forthcoming about who exactly is helping them to get elected, how can we know for sure that those same people won’t be calling in favors if their candidate wins election to the White House," Dvorsky said at the conference.

Transparency and accountability as president is important because it allows Americans to "judge the intentions of those fundraisers and the intentions of the Republican candidates accordingly," she said.

President Obama recently made public his major contributors, according to the release.

Danielson said at the conference he was shocked that no Republican candidate had not yet volunteered the disclosure of her or his major fundraisers.

"… Iowa has one of the best campaign-transparency laws in the country, and we would expect presidential candidates who want to get votes in Iowa to live up to that standard," he said.
