Coming off a 4-3 loss to Michigan State on April 15, the Iowa women’s tennis team was shut out by No. 10 Michigan in Iowa City on Sunday.
The Wolverines rode a sweep of doubles en route to the 7-0 victory.
The Hawkeyes dropped to 6-13 overall, 3-5 in the Big Ten, and Michigan managed to stay undefeated in Big Ten play (9-0), improving its overall record to 19-3.
No. 116 junior Sonja Molnar took her match against Denise Muresan to the third set but eventually fell to the No. 8 singles player (3-6, 6-3, 1-0 [10-3]).
Freshman Christina Harazin pushed her match to a third set in the No. 5 spot. Harazin lost however, )(5-7, 7-6 [4], 1-0 [10-7]) to Rika Tatsuno.
The No. 24 doubles team of Molnar and senior Jessica Young lost its match to the No. 9 duo of Brooke Bolender and Muresan.
Three Hawkeye seniors — Young, Lynne Poggensee-Wei, and Alexis Dorr — played the final match of their Iowa careers at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex.
