Junior Kachine Alexander is one of 40 finalists still in the running to be named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team.
The Iowa guard led the women’s basketball team, averaging 16 points and 10.4 rebounds on the season. She is one of two guards in the nation averaging a double-double.
Alexander was one of 52 Division-I players to earn Women’s Basketball Coaches Association all-region honors. She is also a first team All-Big Ten selection as well as a member of the Big Ten All-Defensive team.
The Minneapolis native claimed the Big Ten rebounding title, averaging 11.1 boards per game — ranking 22nd in the country. Alexander finished the season with 15 double-doubles, one shy of tying the school record.
During Iowa’s run to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, she had a career-high 27 points and six rebounds in the 96-67 loss against No. 1 seed and second-ranked Stanford on March 22.
The 10-member team will be announced at the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament on April 3.
