After a nine-month investigation of the UI, Provost Wallace Loh’s six strategic planning task forces will submit their results to the public this week.
All six task forces were made up of faculty and staff recommended by collegiate deans. The areas of investigation include research and creative work, graduate and professional education, undergraduate education, internationalization and diversity, public outreach and civic engagement, and strategic budgeting.
The task forces were charged with finding ways to generate revenue, reduce spending, reorganize the institution, and investing reallocations.
The initiative came in response to the state initiative Renewing the Iowa Promise — a continuation of 2005-2010’s Iowa Promise, which promoted excellence in the university’s mission of education and economic vitality.
After all the reports are released this week, the university community will have the opportunity to respond to the findings. College deans will submit their recommendations to Loh, who will then take his recommendations to the state Board of Regents in September.
