A Waterloo resident was arrested in the early morning hours Tuesday in Johnson County for the sexual assault of a North Liberty child 13 years ago.
Ricky Witt, 28, was arrested and faces one count of second-degree sexual abuse.
According to a Johnson County jail criminal complaint, Witt sexually assaulted a child under the age of 12 between March 1 and Dec. 31, 2012, in North Liberty. Witt was 15 years old at the time of the crime.
According to the complaint, Witt was observed by a witness and later admitted to the act in a police interview.

Witt’s arrest warrant was issued on Sept. 26, tasking any police in the state to find him and bring him before a judge.
Witt was arrested Tuesday morning and held his first court appearance shortly after 10:00 a.m., according to the complaint. His bond is currently set at $50,000.
According to Iowa Code 709.3, second-degree sexual abuse is a class B felony carrying a maximum prison term of 25 years.
A conviction also requires registration on the Iowa Sex Offender Registry, and the law mandates that the offender serve at least 70 percent of the sentence before being eligible for parole or work release.
