Iowa 1st Congressional District candidates Christina Bohannan and Mariannette Miller-Meeks are set to square off in a televised debate on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.
The debate hosted by Iowa PBS will take place at the station’s studio in Johnston, Iowa, and will be moderated by Kay Henderson. Two Iowa political reporters will join Henderson.
The debate comes as the race has tightened in recent weeks with election forecaster Inside Elections changing their rating of the race to a toss-up from leaning Republican. Other election forecasters changed their rating from likely Republican to leaning Republican in recent weeks.
A September Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll found that 49 percent of the poll’s 160 respondents preferred a generic Democrat over 46 percent who preferred a Republican in Iowa’s first district. The lead is well within the poll’s eight-point margin of error.
