No. 21 Iowa women’s basketball became regular season co-Big Ten Champions in the last home game of the season after defeating No. 6 Michigan, 104-80, in sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday, Feb. 27. The Hawkeyes share the title with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Today marks Michigan’s fourth loss on the road after Nebraska, Michigan State, and Northwestern.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena hosted a sellout with 15,096 fans, surpassing the arena’s capacity of 15,000. Before today, Iowa women’s basketball hosted their last sellout in Carver-Hawkeye Arena in 1988 against Ohio State with 23,000 attendees.

Iowa guard Caitlin Clark led the Hawkeyes in points with a 38-point double double and 11 assists. Center Monika Czinano had 19 total points after scoring 18 points in the paint. Head coach Lisa Bluder spoke on Clark’s season saying with certainty that Clark is the best player in the country.

In a press conference following the game and celebration, Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder spoke about the season. “I’m just so thankful,” Bluder said. “I mean, this whole season has been amazing.”

The Hawkeyes will head to the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis at the end of the week. Iowa received a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament as a No. 2 seed team.
