An Iowa City man has been accused of domestic abuse, violation of no contact, and burglary.

Brandon Derick Blake, 29, 1218 Highland Court, Apartment 2, Iowa City, was charged on Aug. 24 with domestic abuse assault, second offense; first-degree burglary, child endangerment, second-degree harassment, interference with official acts, and violation of a no contact/protective order.

According to the arrest affidavit, Blake arrived at the residence of the victim, whom he is in a domestic relationship with and shares a child, violating the no contact/protective order. Upon entering the residence through the patio, Blake began to trash the apartment and threatened the victim while she was holding their child.

The affidavit said Blake struck the victim, pulling her hair and bit near her eye. The victim fled to protect herself and the child, leaving Blake locked in the apartment until officers were called. While being transported to a patrol car, Blake began to thrash around and shattered the apartment door by kicking it.

Blake said to officers that the victim was lucky the police showed up, or else he would have killed her, the affidavit said.

First-degree burglary is a Class-B felony.
