Chicago man accused of assaulting pregnant partner

A Chicago man has been accused of assaulting his partner while she was pregnant with his child. 

Kyle Hamilton, 21, was charged March 4 domestic abuse/assault without causing injury and domestic abuse/assault impeding air/blood flow causing injury. 

According to the arrest affidavit, Hamilton and his partner have been intimate for the past year and were in an intimate relationship at the time of the assault. 

Hamilton assaulted her by shoving her against a wall, grabbing her throat, and strangling her, the affidavit said. He also struck her in the face, causing a swollen lip. 

The victim also had a sprained/broken wrist from a prior assault, the affidavit said. The victim had visible bruising on the neck and reported pain and difficulty swallowing as a result of the strangulation. 

Domestic abuse/assault impeding air/blood flow causing injury is a Class-D felony.
