Coralville man accused of domestic abuse/assault impeding air/blood flow causing injury

A Coralville man has been accused of choking the mother of his child and threatening to kill her.

Henry Herrera, 33, was charged on Dec. 10 with domestic abuse/assault impeding air/blood flow causing injury, domestic abuse/assault without intent causing injury, endangerment, and first-degree harassment.

According to the arrest affidavit, Herrera assaulted the mother of his three children while the children were present on Nov. 17. Herrera choked the victim, leaving bruises and red marks on her neck. Herrera proceeded to punch the victim multiple times in the head and on the arms, the affidavit said.

Herrera threatened to kill the victim and harm everyone at the scene, including the children, the affidavit said.

Domestic abuse/assault impeding air/blood flow causing injury is a Class-D felony.
