Iowa City man accused of second-degree theft

An Iowa City man has been accused of stealing a bike outside Shakespeare’s Pub and Grill.

Douglas McCurn, 39, was charged on Nov. 17 with second-degree theft.

According to the arrest affidavit, on Oct. 22, McCurn dropped items off at Shakespeare’s Pub and Grill in Iowa City. After dropping the items off, McCurn stole a bicycle from the bike rack outside of the business.

The bicycle McCurn stole was worth $2,000, the affidavit said.

McCurn admitted to taking the bicycle and then giving it to someone else, the affidavit said.

Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
