MADISON, Wis. — Iowa faced a 15-point deficit in the fourth quarter against Wisconsin on Saturday but pulled within two points of the Badgers.
Still, the Hawkeyes couldn’t finish the job, falling to Wisconsin 24-22 at Camp Randall Stadium.
The loss sets Iowa back far in the Big Ten West title race as Minnesota prepares to travel to Iowa City on Nov. 16.
Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz on the Big Ten
“With all due respect to everybody else, but outside of Ohio State, it’s really hard to predict things in the Big Ten in my 30 years here in the league. I mean, you can handicap, and I get that, but that’s what makes it interesting. I think that’s what makes college football interesting.
Kicker Keith Duncan on setting the Iowa’s single-season field goal record during a loss
“Yeah, I mean it kind of sucks. It’s awesome to be with names of Nate Kaeding and stuff like that. But of course, we love to win.”
Defensive end A.J. Epenesa on Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor
“He’s a great running back. He doesn’t run into gaps foolishly. He’s able to see things happen before they happen and make smart decisions, and that’s what he did all night. We knew that was what’s going to happen, and we didn’t tackle well, either.”
Quarterback Nate Stanley on Toren Young’s performance in his hometown
“Yeah, you know, obviously a very emotional game for him. He just ran hard all day.”
Wide receiver Nico Ragaini on the hit Nate Stanley took during the two-point conversion attempt
“I didn’t hear anything. It was pretty loud in there. Can’t really hear anything on the field to be honest.”
