Iowa City man accused of third-degree burglary

An Iowa City man has been accused of breaking into a room at the Iowa City Travelodge.

Daniel Alvarado Zorola, 47, was charged on Oct. 31 with third-degree burglary.

A warrant for Alvarado Zorola’s arrest was issued on Oct. 8.

According to the arrest affidavit, on Oct. 6 police were called to the Travelodge on North Dodge Street on the reporter of a man who had entered someone else’s room. Alvarado Zorola claimed that the room was his and he had the old keys to the room. While in the room, Alvarado Zorola used hotel items and attempted to use a laptop that was in the room, the affidavit said.

Alvarado Zorola left when the police were called to the Travelodge. He was identified by the Travelodge’s past records, the affidavit said.

Third-degree burglary is a Class-D felony.
