After going down with an injury against Penn State on Oct. 12, Iowa linebacker Kristian Welch has been ruled out for today’s game against Purdue, according to Iowa radio.

Dillon Doyle will replace Welch in at the middle linebacker position with Jack Campbell also getting reps.

On Tuesday, head coach Kirk Ferentz listed Welch as a captain for this game in the hopes that he would be ready to go.

“[He] got nicked up a little bit, but we expect him to play,” Ferentz said.

Doyle played last week when Welch was first faced with the injury, but this time, it’ll be his show.
