Hawk Alert: Potential person with gun reported near Pharmacy Building

UPDATE 12:25 p.m. Aug.25: University of Iowa police have confirmed that no one was carrying a gun on campus after investigating the matter that morning.
UI media-relations manager Hayley Bruce said in a press release on the afternoon of Aug. 25 that numerous police departments responded to a call made at 11:29 p.m.Aug. 24 that reported a man carrying a gun by the Pharmacy Building.
Police have confirmed that “the individual had been misidentified as handling a gun,” according to the release.
No arrests were made in the incident.
UPDATE 12:18 a.m. Aug. 25: University of Iowa police have located the suspect involved in a reported gun incident and determined there is no ongoing threat to campus safety, according to a post on the department’s Twitter account at 12:17 a.m. Aug. 25.

12:08 a.m. Sunday: The UI police issued a Hawk Alert regarding a potential person with a gun near the Pharmacy Building on South Grand Avenue.
UI police posted the alert on Twitter at 11:39 p.m. Aug. 24, advising people to stay clear of the area.
