Authorities have accused an Iowa City man of extorting a person he lived with.

Randolph McClaine, 53, was charged July 23 with extortion and first-degree harassment.

According to the arrest affidavit, McClaine told a person after they ended a relationship that he would burn her house down and kill her if he caught her with another male and that he would go to her employer and blackball her, so that she could not “work in the state of Iowa again” unless she gave him $255.

Extortion is a Class-D felony.
