Man accused of endangerment in striking-child case

 Law enforcement has issued a warrant for a Coralville man accused of punching a child in the abdomen and sending the child into cardiac arrest.

Matthew Sanders, 23, has been charged with two counts of child endangerment-serious injury and one count of child endangerment.

According to the arrest affidavit, Sanders used a closed fist to strike a child under his custody in the abdomen, causing internal injuries to the child resulting in cardiac arrest.

Child endangerment-serious injury is a Class-C felony.
