Iowa City police officers respond to reported gunshots Friday night

Iowa City police officers responded to numerous reports of gunshots late on the night of June 21, according to a press release from the city of Iowa City.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Hollywood Boulevard at approximately 11:28 p.m. after receiving numerous reports of gunshots fired in the area. No injuries were reported, and no arrests were made, according to the release.

Officers were able to locate potential evidence in the area, including shell casings. Witnesses on the scene said the involved parties left the scene prior to the arrival of the officers.

The investigation is in its early stages and ongoing, according to the press release.

This incident occurred just four hours after officers responded to reports of gunshots on the 200 block of West Benton Street. No injuries were reported in this incident, and no arrests have been made.
