Authorities have accused an Iowa City woman of shoplifting from J.C. Penney.

Yvonne Smith, 50, 1910 Western Road, was charged March 28 with second-degree theft.

According to an arrest affidavit, Smith allegedly concealed more than $1,500 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying.

Second-degree theft is a Class-D felony.
