Both Iowa gymnastics teams are back home, with the women hosting Iowa State on March 1 and the men facing Nebraska on March 2.

It’s a big day for the GymHawks. The five seniors on the team — Nicole Chow, Sydney Higan, Misty-Jade Carlson, Maria Ortiz, and Rose Piorkowski — will be recognized.

The meet comes at a good time, because Iowa won Session 1 of the Big Five Meet last time out, guaranteeing it a spot in the night session at the Big Ten Championships.

The GymHawks posted a season-high score of 196.450 at the meet, and Clair Kaji and Chow scored 9.900 on bars, setting a career-high for Kaji and tying a career-best for Chow.

Kaji picked up three titles: beam (9.875), floor (9.900), and bars (9.900).

Emma Hartzler and Charlotte Sullivan also tied career-bests on vault with a 9.725 and 9.825, respectively. Bridget Killian set a career-high in the same event with a mark of 9.825.

The Hawkeye men will be back in action after taking a week off. Iowa last sent three athletes — Evan Davis, Bennet Huang, and Jake Brodarzon — to the Winter Cup in Las Vegas.

Davis earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors with his performance, posting a season-high on high bar with a 13.650 before recording season-bests on floor (13.450) and rings (13.350).
