A North Liberty man has been accused of threatening to kill the mother of his children.

Mitchell Smith, 41, was charged Feb. 9 with third-offense domestic assault, first-degree harassment, and violation of a no contact protective order.  

According to the arrest affidavit, Smith entered the victim’s home and attempted to assault her and threatened to kill her, saying that he should have killed her while he had the chance. Smith was stopped from striking the victim by others at the residence. 

Third-offense domestic abuse is a Class-D felony.
