Authorities have accused an Iowa City man of tearing out the hair of the mother of his child.

Lavail Drain, 40, 1100 Arthur St., was charged Nov. 28 with third-offense domestic assault.

According to the arrest affidavit, Drain met the woman in a parking lot. She and Drain got into an argument, during which Drain punched the woman in the face at least three times and tore out her hair. The woman then fled the parking lot and called emergency services.

Third-offense domestic assault is a Class-D felony.
