North Liberty man accused of bringing marijuana into Johnson County Jail

Authorities have accused a North Liberty man of attempting to sneak marijuana into the Johnson County Jail.

Jamonne Culp, 24, has been charged with possession of contraband in a correctional institution.

According to the arrest affidavit, Culp was being taken into Johnson County Jail after being arrested for suspected OWI, and he denied hiding anything on his person. Upon a strip search, the affidavit said, deputies found a marijuana cigarette concealed on Culp’s person.

Possession of contraband in a correctional institution is a Class-D felony.
