Authorities have accused a North Liberty man of assaulting his mother.

Bradley Pechman, 40, is accused of assault resulting in serious injury.

According to the affidavit, Pechman allegedly got into an altercation with his mother after she refused to give him the keys to his vehicle because he was too intoxicated to drive.

Pechman allegedly knocked his mother to the ground and took his keys. His mother then got up and struggled with Pechman, who reportedly again knocked her to the ground. The affidavit states that the impact of the second push caused serious bodily harm.

Pechman left in his vehicle, and after neighbors called 911, his mother was transported to the emergency room, where she was treated for a possible broken leg or hip.

Pechman is charged with assault causing serious injury, a Class-D felony.
