On Aug. 21, 2018, Iowa City police received two separate reports of a man watching women and committing lewd acts in residential areas.

The first incident occurred in the 400 block of Ronalds Street at 4:15 p.m. when a woman reported a man standing outside of a red pickup truck parked in a back alley. The man was watching her while she was outside of her residence, and noted that he was committing a “lewd act” while doing so. Upon securing returning to her home and calling police, she noted that the man fled the area.

Police received a second report at 9:15 p.m. involving a man with a similar description acting suspiciously in an alley in the 1000 block of East College Street. A woman reported that the man was watching people and possibly performing a lewd act. Police checked the area, but the man was not found.

The suspect was described by both women as an African-American male. The man seen on Ronalds Street was said to be wearing a gray shirt and sunglasses, while the man on College Street was reported as tall, thin, and shirtless.

Police are continuing to conduct patrols in these areas, and the ICPD’s Investigations Division will be following up on any further information. Iowa City CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for any information regarding these incidents.
