A busy week awaits the Iowa track and field team. The Hawkeyes will be on the road for their second weekend of the outdoor season, and the athletes will be split into three groups across the country.
The multi-event athletes will head to Texas for the 91st Littlefield Texas Relays today and Thursday, distance runners will head to the Stanford Invitational on Friday, and the rest of the team will compete in the Florida Relays on Thursday-Saturday.
The multi-event athletes heading to Austin include Will Dougherty, Tria Simmons, and Jenny Kimbro.
Kimbro won the 100-meter hurdles at the Willie Williams Classic in Arizona, her first victory in the event of her career. She was a Big Ten finalist in the 60-meter hurdles during the indoor season. She also placed fourth in the pentathlon in the indoor season with 3,930 points, which is second all time at Iowa.
Will Dougherty placed sixth in the Big Ten heptathlon during the indoor season with 5,606 points. That mark is an Iowa school record. Within the heptathlon, he placed second in the 1,000 meters (2:42.11) and shot put (14.42 meters).
Tria Simmons ranks third all-time at Iowa in the pentathlon, posting a college-best 3,859 points at the Wieczorek Invitational during the indoor season. She also placed fifth in the Big Ten championships in the event.
