According to a campus-wide email from the University of Iowa on Monday night, the Iowa City Police Department received reports of two instances of Nazi graffiti on Wednesday, March 14 and Sunday, March 16.
The graffiti was seen on the campus mural, inside the pedestrian tunnel, near the Art Building on the west side of campus, according to the release.
UI Police Department responded to document the two incidents.
The UI denounced the incidents and said appropriate actions will be taken, when the individual is identified.
Hate speech is condemned by the UI and goes against the values of the institution, said the email from the Chief Diversity Office and the Office of the Vice President for Student Life.
“We are a caring community that values compassion, inclusion, respect, and dignity,” the release stated.
If anyone has information relating to these incidents, they should inform the UI Police Department at (319) 335-5022.
