The Daily Iowan received several awards on Friday, Feb. 2 at the 2018 Iowa Newspaper Association awards banquet. The DI placed in 23 categories and took first in nine.
The DI is in the Daily Class 1 category and competed against other news organizations in the state with an average circulation under 10,000. Submissions between October 2016 and October 2017 were considered.
For the second year in a row, the DI came in first place for Best Newspaper Website and second place for General Excellence. Other first place highlights include Best News Story, Coverage of Agriculture, and Best Sports Photo.
