Authorities have accused a Coralville man of attacking a woman.

Eric Brewer, 43, was charged Jan. 24 with third and subsequent domestic abuse/assault.

According to the arrest affidavit, the woman reported her assault after a verbal argument with Brewer, with whom she has been living since October 2017.

The woman said Brewer covered her face with his hand and held her down on a bed, which caused pain to her wrists.

Two others, friends the woman called to help her leave the residence, witnessed parts of the assault, the affidavit said.

The woman told officers she is afraid for her safety and the safety of her three children from a previous relationship, the affidavit said.

Third and subsequent domestic abuse/assault is a Class-D felony.
