At approximately 2 a.m. on Jan. 20, a female University of Iowa student was sexually assaulted while trying to make it back to her residence hall from a downtown business, according to a UI Public Safety advisory issued Monday night.
According to the advisory, the woman said the male suspect offered to give her a ride back to her residence hall, then instead went off course and drove her to a remote location where he sexually assaulted her before taking her home.
Even though this occurred off campus, the advisory said, the UI “considers the situation a matter of campus safety.”
UI Public Safety encourages those who believe a crime has been committed to call 911 or the UI police at (319) 335-5022.
