Authorities requested an arrest warrant for an Iowa City man on a drug/intoxicant introduction charge.
Cedric Johnson, 22, 513 S. Van Buren St., is accused of introducing intoxicants/drugs into an institution on Aug. 3.
According to the affidavit, Johnson was arrested on Aug. 3 on a different warrant for an unrelated offense and taken to jail. When he was searched, the affidavit said, nothing was found, but in the holding cell, an officer saw Johnson trying to get rid of what was thought of to be drugs.
When Johnson was removed from the cell, the affidavit said, a foil wrapper was found, as was marijuana.
Since this incident, the affidavit said, the deputy who found Johnson trying to get rid of the drug made a report, including video evidence. The marijuana was sent for testing, the affidavit said, and the official results are underway.
Introducing intoxicants/drugs into an institution is a Class-D felony.
