Daily Iowan football reporter Pete Ruden caught up with Iowa running back James Butler, a graduate transfer from Nevada.
DI: Who is your favorite music artist?
James Butler: Chance the Rapper.
DI: What’s your favorite restaurant in Iowa City?
Butler: I really like Stella’s. Maybe because I live so close, but I really like Stella’s. I feel like you can never go wrong with Stella’s.
DI: Who is your favorite NFL team?
Butler: The Bears. I’m a Chicago guy, so I gotta rock with the Bears.
DI: Who is the best Madden player on the team?
Butler: I would have to give myself the title, even though I haven’t played yet. I’m pretty good when it comes to the Steelers.
DI: What’s a recent dream you had?
Butler: I don’t really remember a lot of my dreams, but I did dream of coming out of the tunnel and getting chills down my back. I really pictured that a lot in my head.
DI: Would you consider a hot dog a sandwich?
Butler: No. A hot dog is a hot dog.
DI: Does pineapple belong on pizza?
Butler: No. I don’t put pineapple on pizza.
DI: MJ or LeBron?
Butler: Is that even a question? Come on, Michael Jordan.
DI: What is your favorite football memory as a kid?
Butler: I went to Florida in my eighth grade year to play in the national
championship with my best friends. That’s my best memory.
DI: What do you like about Iowa City that wasn’t in Reno?
Butler: I really like how close it is to home. My best friend is here, one of the managers, Justin Flood, so I really got a lot of close friends here that aren’t on the team, and I made friends on the team too. Really, it’s close to home and I’m [going to] bust right away if I need to get back.
