Nebraska head coach Mike Riley speaks to members of the media at the Big Ten media days to discuss the 2017-18 season.
- Nebraska does not have a quarterback who has played a college down for the Huskers: “I don’t know how that narrative sounds.”
- Tanner Lee, who will be Nebraska’s starting quarterback, is in attendance for Big Ten media days. Lee has been with the team for about a year. “He became a good teammate, he became very well-liked, he became respected.”
- Under a new defensive coordinator, Nebraska plans to move to a 3-4 defense. Riley is “really interested” in the switch, sees it as getting back to his defensive roots.
- Cornerback Chris Jones could miss up to six months with a meniscus tear. He was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2016. Riley was not in town when the injury happened.
- “Everyone kind of knows the background on Bob Elliott — the person he was, the coach he was.” Riley hired Elliott early in 2017 as a safeties’ coach.
