Iowa’s season may be over, but Peter Jok continues to receive awards.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) named Jok to the All-District 7 first team.
Jok, who averaged 19.9 points (best in the Big Ten), 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, joins Maryland’s Melo Trimble, Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan, Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ, and Michigan State’s Miles Bridges as the five players selected on the first team.
The lone senior on the NABC First Team, Jok set the school record for highest free throw percentage in a single season (91.1-percent) and throughout a career (88.1-percent). His 636 points this season elevated him to the best Hawkeye scorer since Adam Haluska scored 637 in 2007.
Jok ranks 15th in career scoring (1,508 points) and 4th in 3-pointers (216) in school history.
After guiding his team to 19 wins this season, Jok finished as the sixth-highest scorer out of players in Power 5 conferences.
This isn’t the first time Jok found his name on the NABC selection list. Last season he received a second team honoree award.
He joins Roy Devyn Marble (2014), Aaron White (2015), and Jared Uthoff (2016) as the fourth-straight Hawkeye player earning all-district recognition.
Jok’s shot at future awards doesn’t stop here. On March 30, he will compete in the college 3-Point Championships. The contest will be held in Phoenix.
