The bus route offered by Megabus from Iowa City, Chicago, and Nebraska will be running again starting today. According to the press release, Megabus officials will be opening up 500 seats for only $1 during the first week of service.
Megabus will be pairing with the bus company Windstar Lines to bring back a reliable service route.
“Many of our customers were understandably disappointed with our decision to exit the Iowa and Nebraska markets earlier this year. Windstar Lines is a solid operator with a strong history in the Iowa and Nebraska region,” Colm Lynch, the Vice President of Retail for Megabus.com said in the press release.
The cities that will be served are include Lincoln, Nebraska, Omaha, Nebraska, Des Moines, Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, Moline, Ill. and Chicago, Ill.
The reinstatement of the route will come in time for the University of Iowa spring break. Many students who attend the UI depend upon Megabus for rides back home during breaks.
*The Daily Iowan* previously reported that Megabus halted its route from Omaha to Chicago through Iowa City in January due to a shortage of passengers.
