Area man faces fifth domestic-assault charge
Authorities have accused a Coralville man of assaulting his girlfriend.
Ricky Woolley, 56, was charged Feb. 5 with third and subsequent domestic assault, a felony.
According to the arrest affidavit, the woman met with an officer at the Coralville Police Department on Feb. 5. She said she had dated Woolley since June 2016 and living with him since November of that year.
She reported Woolley became angry and began to yell at her. She became scared and attempted to call the police, but Woolley reportedly took away both her phones. During the struggle for the phones, the woman was reportedly struck in the upper lip, resulting in swelling and pain to the right side of her lip. She then attempted to flee, and Woolley ran after her and tried to open her car door as she attempted to drive away. Woolley yelled at her the entire time and threatened to kill her dog.
The woman reportedly identified Woolley as the person who assaulted her when she was shown a photo of him. Woolley was located at his residence and allegedly fought with officers as they tried to take him into custody. Woolley reportedly admitted to everything the woman had told police.
Woolley has previous domestic-abuse convictions in 1998, 2000, 2003, and 2005.
Domestic assault is a Class-D felony.
