Each dancer was given a bag filled with tools to help them survive the night of the Big Event.
A “swag bag” was given to dancers as they checked in for Dance Marathon the week before the Big Event. This bag was filled with items meant to help the dancers get through the night as well as provide some Dance Marathon pride.
The bag, a medium-sized duffle, contained a Dance Marathon shirt, a water bottle, a Dance Marathon bracelet, a Back Porch Revival shirt, the required bib, and other items for dancers that surpassed more fundraising levels.
“You can get other shirts, depending on how much money you get,” dancer Allison Blevins said. “If you raise $600 you get a pair of shoelaces.”
Having a bag to check is a huge help, Blevins said.
“The bag has for sure helps,” dancer Elizabeth Pritchard said. “The water bottle is the best part.”
The water bottle is eco-friendly and in a baggy form. Pritchard likes the baggy feature because when the bottle is empty is can just hang from the clip and she can dance without it flopping around.
The baggy water bottle is the favorite part for the bag for both Pritchard and Blevins.
Dancer Stefanie Jensen disagrees.
“I like it but sometimes it leaks and the lid broke off right away. It can also scratch my leg if I’m wearing shorts,” Jensen said. “So it can be annoying but it’s still nice to have a water bottle. You need that.”
Jensen appreciated the size of the bag itself.
“It’s bigger this year,” she said. “The extra space is really nice.”
